Merry Christmas!

We will be on the go the next couple of days so I thought I would put up our Christmas wishes to all who read our littleblog.

The video below is of a house in Michans neighborhood - lights catch on more and more each year here and as you can tell some people take things to an extreme!

The pix below are of some of the fun we are having. Sumire tried on Mayu's school gear - backpack and hat. Yuki made a cake with Mayu and Kotaro. Sumire is in good hands playing with her cousins!

Christmas break is here!

Well, my long awaited Christmas break is here finally. University is over, school is over and we have arrived in Nara to spend time with family. I actually have nothing to do! That is if you dont count updating blogs and organizing all those pix I have let build up on my harddrive!
We visited with Ms. Itakura and her family on the weekend and met her son's new baby, Makoto. We also got to meet up with Brian and Aya and Chihiro to have dinner at Hananoki with Nagashima-san. On Monday, while Yuki got her hair cut, I took Sumire over to Yokooji's house to see Miwa and Yuma. Yesterday we arrived at Michan and Kirin's house where we will spend the next few days before heading to Nishiwaki for a few days. Then it is back to Nara for New Years with the whole family.

8 months old today!

Today Sumire is 8 months old so she tried out a new birthday suit that mom gave her. Its still a bit big for her but as you can tell from the video, she finds it mesmerizing!



Here she is playing Happy Birthday to me on her piano. Well, sort of.


Kumi, Keita and Kenji came to visit this week. Here is a video of Keita and Sumire enjoying a story from Auntie Kumi.

Sumire's First Cover Shoot

The national retail outfit Ito Yokado (they own 7-11 over here too) brought out their 2007/08 baby catalogue this week and guess who is their feature model??? Way to go covergirl!

It is nice to have Sumire sitting at the table with us now. Still need to work on her manners a bit. The pix are of Christmas lights in Tokyo and Sumire getting fed.

Sumire's First Piano Recital

Sumire got a piano and she has been practicing pretty hard. Here is her first piano recital. Enjoy!

Welcome Yuma-chan

Miwa and Nao had a baby girl yesterday (on their anniversary). Yuma weighed in at 2850grams. We went to introduce Sumire to her new friend today. It is hard to believe Sumire was this tiny only half a year ago!

The Festival and Guam

Halloween isn't really practiced in Japan but Sumire did get to dress up as a polar bear for the school festival. She really enjoyed the festival and she also got a whole bunch of toys at the bazaar (including a pretty cool piano!).

After the festival we all headed to Guam for a few days in the sun. Our hotel left a bit to be desired but everything else was great. We ate at some nice restaurants, went on a city tour, did some shopping, and spent time enjoying the beach and swimming in the warm water.

Sumire Update

Here are some recently taken shots of Sumire to keep you up to date. She started swimming lessons and had a trip to the Ueno Zoo. She is also making lots of new baby friends through the many functions and events for moms and babies to attend in town. As for Mom&Dad, not much is new with us - we are just enjoying watching our daughter grow up!

The Canucks have a busy first week coming up so Sumire thought she would cheer them on from Japan. Its her first hockey season!
