Weekend fun

This weekend we drove about an hour to a place called Fushimi where there are hiking trails up a mountain that run through these orange gates called toori. There is supposedly a thousand of them but it seemed to me that there were many times that amount. After that we made a brief stop to check out the local castle. Enjoy the pix!

Halloween

Here are some shots from Sumire's Halloween this year. As usual Yuki arranged for a mini trick or treat around the neighborhood.

Princess Sumire

Daddy was in Kuala Lumpur so he missed out on the Halloween at home. But the weather in KL was pretty spooky too!

This is a Domino's pizza delivery guy I saw in KL. I had never seen the pizza backpacks before. In Japan they deliver on scooters with a specially rigged pizza holder compartment on the back.

Shikoku and Kurashiki

The third week in October we took an overnight trip down to Shikoku, famous for its udon noodles.  We had to cross a huge bridge to get there and basically all we did was eat udon, , have some fun at a park, stay over and come back across the bridge.

Yummy Udon

On the way home we stopped in Kurashiki, a touristy town full of old rice storage buildings (kura).

A few funny shots from the trip.
The poor father whose daughters are dating these guys!

Also some interesting English discovered.
Poor guy paid over 300 dollars for his motorcycle jacket and surely has no idea what it says. If you are interested in getting one for yourself, they are available in other colors at http://www.yellowcorn.co.jp/YC2012FW.pdf (page 12)

What is smorking?
